Fr. Basil Malowany
The history of the Ukrainian Catholic Church in Beaverdale begins in 1907 with the construction of a church on a large property donated by Ivan Kryvda. This church was built by volunteers under the direction of Ivan Bogutsky, Mykola Prybylsky, and Harasym Davosyr. This church was blessed by Blessed Bishop Nykyta Budka.
By the mid-century the parish had outgrown this church and the decision was made to build the present structure. The new church was both designed and built by Harry Shalley and Dmytro Sereda between 1950 and 1953. The prominent artist Theodore Baran was commissioned to come from Saskatoon to decorate the church in 1963. This was accomplished through the generosity of the local branch of the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League of Canada.
Beaverdale is served by clergy from Our Lady of Perpetual Help (St. Mary’s) in Yorkton.
