Pastor Fr. Raymond Lukie, C.Ss.R.
Associate Pastor Fr. Dmytro Dnistrian, C.Ss.R.
The need for a second church in the city of Saskatoon was apparent within a few years of the construction of St. George’s on the west side of the river. Bishop Andrew Roborecki invited the Redemptorist Fathers to establish the new parish in 1954, appointing Fr. Volodymyr Korba, C.Ss.R. as first pastor.
The community purchased a large plot of land in East Nutana that year and construction began shortly afterward with a basement church. The main body of the church was completed in 1961 and the community quickly became one of the most active in the eparchy.
The church is a large blown concrete structure in the form of an extended barrel vaulted cross. In 1976 an iconostas was installed, and the sanctuary of the church was decorated by the artist George Sviatoslav Hordynsky. He adopted a modern and simplistic style of traditional iconography to complement the style of the church.
The parish of the Ss. Peter and Paul continues to be served by the Redemptorist Fathers.
