Fr. Leonid Malkov C.Ss.R.
Ukrainian settlement at Albertown began in 1908. The present church of Ss. Peter and Paul in Albertown was built in 1927.
Originally, the Ukrainians and the Roman Catholics in Albertown came together to build a church that they could use in common but this arrangement soon proved unsatisfactory. This church was dedicated to the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. The Roman Catholic community bought out the Ukrainian population, and the Ukrainians built the church of Ss. Peter and Paul.
The church is lovingly cared for by its population and is used a number of times each year. The community also annually celebrates their patronal feast (Praznyk) on the 12th of June according to the Julian Calendar. This celebration provides an opportunity for everyone who has links to the parish to reunite in this well-loved place.
For most of its history, Albertown received pastoral care from the clergy resident at Hafford. It remains affiliated with Hafford and is served by the clergy of the North Battleford-Hafford District.
