History

The Church of Ss. Peter and Paul was built between 1943 and 1944 on a site ten miles northeast of Chaplin. Settlers from Ukraine began in 1909 and attended a local Roman Catholic Church until they were able to build their own.
This church remains lovingly cared for by its congregation and is used seasonally ?.
The church of Ss. Peter and Paul in Chaplin-Thunder Creed is served by clergy from St. Athanasius in Regina.
The information provided here is taken in part from the work of Anna Maria Kowcz-Baran, Ukrainian Catholic Churches of Saskatchewan, published in 1977. This monumental historical survery can be found for sale at the Musée Ukraina Museum for $20.00.
