Ukrainian settlement at Albertown began in 1908. The present church of Ss. Peter and Paul was built in 1927.
Originally, the Ukrainian and Roman Catholic communities in Albertown collaborated to build a shared church, but this arrangement soon proved unsatisfactory. The church was dedicated to the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. The Roman Catholic community eventually purchased the shared building, and the Ukrainians constructed the church of Ss. Peter and Paul.
The church is lovingly cared for by its community and is used roughly twice a year. The parish celebrates its patronal feast (Praznyk) annually on June 12 according to the Julian Calendar, providing an opportunity for all those with connections to the parish to reunite in this cherished place.
For most of its history, Albertown was served by clergy resident at Hafford. It remains affiliated with Hafford and is served by the clergy of the North Battleford & Hafford Pastoral District.
