History

The need for a parish in the town of Kamsack became apparent as Ukrainian Catholics began to relocate to the community from the surrounding rural districts. At first the Ukrainian Catholic community met for Divine Liturgies celebrated in the local Roman Catholic church. In 1941, a church was built and dedicated to St. Josaphat. A second church was built after the first was destroyed by fire in 1947.
The present church was completed in 1982 and is beautifully cared for by its congregation.
Kamsack is cared for by clergy from Canora.
