Fr. Basil Malowany
The first church in Melville was built in 1916 and blessed by Blessed Bishop Nykyta Budka. It didn’t take long for the community to outgrow this structure. The present church was constructed in 1936. This was made possible through the generosity of the people of Melville and the work was carried out under the foremanship of Wasyl Huziak. Over the years, this church has been lovingly maintained by its community.
Ukrainian settlement in this area began in 1907. From 1913 until 2018, St. George in Melville was under the care of the Redemptorist Fathers.
