The first Church of the Transfiguration was built in Preeceville in 1940. Its construction became necessary as Ukrainian Catholics moved into town from the surrounding rural parishes. The church was blessed that same year by Bishop Andrew Roborecki.
In 1979, the present church was constructed and was decorated by Theodore Baran of Saskatoon. It is lovingly cared for by its devoted congregation and is served regularly by clergy from the parish in Canora.
The information presented here is drawn in part from the work of Anna Maria Kowcz-Baran, Ukrainian Catholic Churches of Saskatchewan, published in 1977. This monumental historical survey is available for purchase at the Musée Ukraina Museum for $20.00.
