History

St. Athanasius was established in 1966 as the second Ukrainian Catholic parish in the city of Regina. From its founding until 1971, the congregation worshiped in the Archbishop M.C. O’Neill High School auditorium. Construction of the present church took place in phases between 1971 and 1978. In the 1990s, the interior was beautifully enhanced with impressive mosaic icons.

St. Athanasius serves as the seat of the St. Athanasius and Moose Jaw District and provides spiritual care to the following parishes: Assumption of the Blessed Mother of God in Moose Jaw; Saints Peter and Paul in Chaplin–Thunder Creek; Saints Peter and Paul in Hodgeville; and Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Glentworth.
