History

The first Ukrainians arrived in Wynyard from the nearby rural parishes, particularly St. John the Apostle at Krasne. The first Sacred Heart Church was purchased from the local Lutheran community in 1937. By 1953 the needs of the community were such as to warrant the construction of a new and larger church. Wynyard was served by the Redemptorist Fathers from Yorkton until a rectory was built in 1965 and they provided a resident priest. The Redemptorist Fathers left the parish to eparchial clergy in (WHICH YEAR?)

Sacred Heart serves as a pastoral base for the Wynyard district with affiliated parishes at Foam Lake, Wishart Town and Farms, Kuroki, Krasne, Humboldt, Holar, Beckenham, Bedfordville, Fenwood, Goodeve Farms, Lanigan Farms, Parkerview, Model Farm, and Sheho Farms.

Divine Liturgy is celebrated in Wynyard each Sunday. For information on these please contact the parish rectory.
