Fr. Andre Lalach
The Church of the Sacred Heart at Vonda was built in 1943 and was blessed by Bishop Andrew Roborecki on June 24, 1951. The first Ukrainian settlers arrived in the area as early as 1904. These settlers and their descendants worshipped in the rural parishes surrounding Vonda—namely Smuts to the northwest and Borshchiv to the southeast—until the church in Vonda was established.
The Church of the Sacred Heart is beautifully maintained and used weekly. Services are celebrated daily by the monks of the Hermitage of the Three Holy Hierarchs.
The parish of Sacred Heart in Vonda is cared for by Dormition of the Mother of God Parish in Sutherland.
