History

The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was built in 1958 and was blessed by Bishop Roborecki in 1962. Ukrainians started to settle around the village of Wishart in 1907. They primarily worshiped at the local farms church. The need for a church in the community grew as the population shifted from the rural district to the town.
This area was served by the Redemptorist Fathers from Yorkton, then from Wynyard, until their withdrawal from the district in 2008. Since that time it has been served by priests of the Eparchy of Saskatoon residing in Wynyard.
